I really thought that I would find time throughout this week to blog and tell you all about my week with Prudence Mapstone. As it turns out, Im so crazy over these classes at the end of each night, that I have been dragging myself thru the door about 8p racing to my favorite chair, and wildly crocheting to practice all the amazing things Im learning. Im determined to master these techniques and finish one of these projects! Im having the time of my life. There are 20 of us each day and the majority are taking all 5 days worth of classes. Its been phenominal!! Prudence is just a blast to meet and get to work with and the creative stimulation is electric.
I have a hard time sitting still so Im always way behind the other students. I spend way to much time talking and wandering off to see everyone elses stuff. I guess that not much has changed since I was a student in school.....
Last night, I found a UFO from my pile- a half finished purse. I ended up staying up way too late after realizing it would be perfect with all of my new freeform scrumbles, before midnite I had the most exquisite purse. I am so proud of it I cant wait to get back this morning. Besides, today, we learn fabulous fringes and embellishment.... and the samples bring you to your knees.
If you are in the Phoenix area, please join us tonite for an open house and fashion show with Prudence. We always have a great time when we do this and expect a great crowd tonite... whats better than other crafty ladies, yarns, and desserts.
I just finished my first crochet project ever - a free form purse from the class with Prudence Mapstone. I am glowing with pride right now!! The purse uses a palette of yarns from SWTC and the strap was a rather brilliant idea i came up with to recycle a leather handle from an old purse in my closet then crochet around it with Pagoda, tying the entire project together and giving me a strap I really love. The inside is lined with felt made from Karaoke in Wild Cherry. The pix dont begin to do it justice since you can't see the great shaping and colors in all of their glory! Such artistic freedom!
Today is by 40th birthday... and Im actually thrilled. I sit here with my OVER THE HILL mug waiting for Joe to return with my favorite cake in the world from Cathys Rum Cake in Chandler. I could be turning 80 today and that cake would make me happy about it! Tonite is our SnB gathering and we are looking forward to a great turn out. I will share pix tomorrow. Time to get my work done... and get back to playing!
Have a wonderful day everyone!
